Deepika pairs up with Shahid

Deepika Padukone‘s film might not be box-office dhamaka but her acting capability is always appreciated and now she is a hot property of Bollywood. Filmmakers are keen to cast her in their films. She is signing one after another film. Very recently, she has signed Prakash Jha’s film opposite Ajay Devgan and now she has been finalized to play Shahid Kapoor Heer in ‘Heer-Ranjha’.
The main concern about the pair is their heights. Deepika is much taller than Shahid, the same issue was raised when she was paired with Farhan Akhtar in ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’. The director of the film Sabir Khan had the feeling that both will look fine together.
He says, “I don’t think it really makes a difference if the leading lady is taller than the hero. Any heroine, no matter how tall, is keen to work with Aamir Khan. Dippy has agreed to do the film. I think Shahid and she make a great pair. They’ve never been paired before.”
Adds the director, “We opted for Deepika because we needed a face that could look contemporary and classical. Among the current line-up of actresses, only she could measure up to my script’s demands.
As for Shahid, he’s an intense actor. I’m positive this pair can project the pangs of passionate love.”
‘Heer Ranjha’ will be a contemporary love tale and not a repetition of the old one. The shooting will start from next year April.
