Four Million Dollars For Divali Celebrations

One day after Public Relations Officer of the National Council for Indian Culture, Surujdeo Mangaroo (NCIC) appeared on the WIN Report, stating that he was not certain how much money they will receive from the Government for Divali celebrations; the organization received one million dollars.
The cheque was handed over today by the Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, Winston Gypsy Peters.
Another organization receiving ‘a large piece of the pie’ was the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha which received 1.2 million dollars.
The Minister said other smaller community groups received money as well for their individual Divali celebrations.
The total amount allocated for this year’s Divali celebrations amounted to four million dollars.
This he says, is in keeping with one of the pillars of his Ministry, which ensures that all cultural groups receive equal funding for hosting their various events.
