The TDC has established a twenty four hour security presence on some of the countries tourist facilities.
This as a result of precautionary travel advisories being put out by the Uk, Australia and the United States over the spate of crime in this country, particularly the sister isle.
So says Minister in the Minister of Tourism Rupert Griffith, namely the Pitch Lake, Maracas, Las Quevas, Manzanilla and Vessigny.
Whilst the security personnel do not carry firearms they do provide the desired visible protective presence.
Delivering the feature address at the launch of the tourism oriented policing and protection services conference he says his Ministry also conducts regular security beachfront patrols. Some of these patrols include at Maracas , Tyrico bay , Mayaro and Las Quevas
Moreover he says the Ministry maintains a constant rapport with the Police stations located in close proximity to various tourist attractions.
Video Monitoring systems have also been implemented.
The Ministry recently concluded a pilot project utilising video monitoring systems at Maracas Beach lifeguard quarters for surveillance of sea bathers as well as to assist in the monitoring of the beach front.
