PP Using Protective Forces As Lap Dogs

The police and defense force must not be used as a personal and private army for government officials.

So said Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley.

This as he responded to what he calls the abuse of authority exercised by National Security Minister Jack Warner.

He made the comment during a political meeting at Bornse Road St James yesterday evening.

This as he lashed out against the demolition of the Highway Re route Movement’s camp site last Wednesday.

Rowley says if the re route group posed such a threat to the peace then the police would have intervened a long time ago.

However he says clearly the minister is influencing the actions of the police and defense force.

He says by law notice must be given to eradicate squatters and no notice was issued nor was process followed in this instance.

According to Dr. Rowley the government is making conscious and deliberate decisions not to follow the law.

He says he is not willing to tolerate the way things are at present and the improper use of the protective forces are cause for concern.
