The Ministry of Health is set to put measures in place to improve the transparency of the chronic disease assistance plan following the findings of an evaluation of the programme. Good news for cancer patients. This as plans for the construction of a National Oncology Centre at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex at Mt Hope are well under way. Medical System At Fault For Parent’s Wrong doing

The medical system has been blamed for the way that young parents react violently to misbehaving children. Following up on the incident last week in which a twenty five year old burnt her children as punishment, one Social Worker, Marcus Kissoon says the system is at fault. He says the woman would have been seventeen when she had her eldest child and upon leaving the hospital, officials there should have followed up and guided her.

Gardasil, the vaccine which prevents Human Papilloma Virus is not directly linked to death. The vaccine caused furor when government began HPV vaccination for girls in both primary and secondary schools last week. Oncology Center Well Underway

The National Oncology Center is well underway according to the Minister of Health, Dr. Fuad Khan. He said so this morning during a telephone interview with WINTV’s morning show, Sunrise. Dr. Khan announced in June last year,that a National Oncology Center is expected to be up and running by 2014. This morning he confirmed that this plan is progressing smoothly. The center will provide cancer care, free of charge to citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
